Weeding out weak players.

It is easier to win games with a small roster of average, well-trained players than with a large roster that includes a few weak ones. Since no player can be "fired" for poor performance, some managers will deliberately discourage the weaker players, hoping that they will quit the team. This destroys confidence, morale, and self-esteem. It goes against the purpose of youth sports, but it happens. If this happens to your ballplayer, get him or her out of there, and into another league or another sport, immediately.
